The Upjohn Institute New Hires Quality Index for March 2019 shows inflation-adjusted hourly wages of individuals starting a new job rose 1.4 percent from a year prior, to $16.69, continuing a strong growth trend. This month, index creator Brad Hershbein examines the index by region, finding that the Midwest is faring better than its reputation suggests.
