Brad Hershbein presents at Harvard Data Science Initiative conference

Brad Hershbein

The Upjohn Institute's Brad Hershbein presents research on differential privacy Oct. 25 at the Harvard Data Science Initiative 2019 conference. The presentation is titled "Differential Privacy and Scrubbed Segregation."

Differential privacy is a new technique designed to allow for sharing useful information from a dataset while completely protecting individual privacy. Hershbein, with Brian Asquith, Shane Reed and Steve Yesiltepe, looks at the effect of this approach on Census data, examining how it biases estimates of key statistics, including racial segregation data.

Information on the conference is on the conference site. You can also watch a live stream of the conference. Hershbein’s session begins at 9 a.m. Eastern.
