The following is a dashboard of key economic indicators for the southwest Michigan (SWMI) region, which includes Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, and Van Buren counties. It focuses on wealth generation within export clusters—groups of related industries that are connected through supply chains, share skilled workers and specialized expertise, and sell goods or services outside the region. These clusters, also referred to as the economic base of the region, bring new income into the region and help drive overall economic prosperity. The insights from this dashboard can support decision making, identify growth opportunities, and inform strategies for business investment, workforce development, and community planning.
To use the dashboard, select an economic cluster from the list below. Upon selection, the display will update to show data for that cluster. For definitions of dashboard clusters, indicators, and terminology see: Glossary of Terms.
