Industry Studies

Understanding the labor market practices of specific industries can offer important insights for improving labor market outcomes more broadly, thanks to spillover effects from one industry to another.

Our deep roots in Michigan ensure that research on the auto industry, and manufacturing in general, are highlights of Upjohn’s industry studies. However, Upjohn researchers have also examined labor market practices in high-tech, higher education, health care and other fields. Our focus on economic development leads to examinations of what certain industries offer communities in terms of their ability to grow sustainable jobs for residents.
