With 300 employees working around the clock, the two-person Novolex human resources team can't handle every challenge on their own. For the past 10 years, they haven't had to, thanks to the Employer Resource Network® (ERN).

"I wouldn't survive a day without the support of ERN," said Charise Bos, human resources manager. "Societal needs are huge. Transportation, housing, mental health, anger management—these are all real-life issues many of our employees face. Our ERN coach is the person employees can talk to and who has extra tools in her toolbox to help our employees tackle their problems."

ERN success coach Tamara Angle spends Wednesday afternoons at the fresh-food and beverage packaging facility in Kalamazoo, often with employees waiting to meet with her.

Bos credits Angle with helping a single dad find stable housing, securing an emergency car loan for another employee, and guiding someone struggling with addiction into a rehab program, allowing them to return to work successfully.

"Every employee is very valuable in this job market," Bos said. "We encourage everyone to utilize ERN services. It's a piece of work that is very, very important. Employees who are successful outside of work are more successful at work. ERN plays a critical role in making that happen.”
