ECRA FAQ

  • Can I use the ECRA to fund my summer salary? Yes.
  • Should my proposal be single- or double-spaced? Proposals should be, at most, 1,200 words (approximately four double-spaced pages, excluding references).
  • Do I have to be employed at an educational institution to be able to apply? No. Do my coauthors? No.
  • My project will have multiple authors, but your web page allows only one CV upload. Do you require all authors’ CVs? Yes. Please combine CVs into one file for uploading.
  • Can I submit multiple proposals? No. Individuals may be listed as a PI or co-PI on only one proposal.
  • Can I apply even though I received an award in a previous year? Yes, as long as you are within seven years of your terminal degree.
  • Can a coauthor be a tenured professor? Yes.
  • Can I include figures and/or tables in my proposal? Yes.
  • Do I have to be based in the U.S. to have my proposal accepted? No.
  • Does my proposal need to be submitted by my institution? No.
  • Is the award paid directly to the recipient, or is it paid to the institution of affiliation? Recipients may choose whether the grant is administered through the recipient as an individual or through an institutional sponsored projects office.
