21st Century Job Seekers— This workshop will educate you on the digital environment that is revolutionizing the hiring process. Topics covered will be professional email, electronic data storage, resumes, electronic job fairs, phone interviews, applications online, web interviews, and information etiquette.  Presented by: H & R Block, Computer Lab

Basic Banking-Learn basic banking and about services that banks provide. 

Business Keyboarding-Learn the proper technique of using the keyboard and improve speed and accuracy.  Presented by:  Ave Allen, MI Works! Employment Services, Computer Lab

Career vs. Job-It's all about attitude!  Learn a bit about yourself in this high energy workshop that focuses on understanding the commitment, motivation & attitude that drives a career professional.  Gain insight to the secret of success & experience the difference it can make at work, home & your entire life!  Michigan Room

Computer Basics-Learn the foundation of basic computer skills such as how to use a mouse and keyboard etc. Presented by:  Diane Donovan MI MOUSE, Inc.,  and Learie Levy, MI Works! Employment Services Computer Lab

Cover & Follow Up Letters-Understanding and preparing effective letters that can be helpful when applying for a job or following up after an interview.  Presented by:  Michelle Finch, MI Works! Employment Specialist., Arcadia Room

DISC Personality Profiling—Participants will have an understanding of the 4 basic personality/behavioral types based on the DISC Profiling System. This understanding will assist them in interacting with others to increase their chances for employment and retention. This segment is a part of an all day workshop (Life Enhancement) that covers values, life purpose, goal setting and communications. Participants are invited to stay until 3:30 or leave at 11:00 as scheduled. Presented by: Terri Vought, Adult WIA 

Effective Interviewing-Learn interviewing skills to "Win you that job"  Format will involve discussion and practice interviews.  Presented by:  Fred Harvey, MI Works! Employment Services, Michigan Room

Email & You!-Why is it important to have an email account?  The presenter will show you how to create your own email account and give you a general overview of the different ways to use your email account.  Presented by:  Rico Pina, MI Works! Employment Services, Computer Lab

Housing Resources—Basic Information—This workshop will provide you with general information on giving appropriate notice to vacate, moving out, security deposits etc.

How To Cope With Unemployment—This workshop will provide you with some strategies & skills to help you cope with being unemployed.   Presented by: Dr. Glinda Rawls, Asst Professor in the Counseling & Testing Center at WMU. She is both a licensed professional and  nationally certified counselor. Currently, she is serving as president of the Kalamazoo Counseling Association.

Mock InterviewingThis will be an interactive workshop where there will be feedback and constructive criticism offered for each participant. Specific interview questions will be asked and the participant must be willing to work openly in a group setting. Roll It, Take It, Leave It, Move ItKnow your employer retirement plan options is a seminar designed to help clients and prospects who recently switched jobs, retired or are facing unemployment due to a layoff or downsiz-ing determine what to do with their employer retirement savings plan. At the seminar participants will learn the five most common distribution options.

WorkKeys Testing—Fee based weekly testing is available for those who are ready. Successful completion of all three required WorkKeys Tests (Reading, Math & Locating Information); you will qualify for the Michigan National Career Readiness Certificate. KeyTrain is available to assist with test  Preparation.  Proctored by: ES Staff in the Computer Lab
