Enhancement Program

The Kalamazoo-St. Joseph Workforce Development Board announces the availability of funds to train workers currently employed by local, private companies in the manufacturing, health care, and service industries including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, technology, homeland security, and/or defense, and alternative energy.

The Employee Enhancement Program is designed to support business growth by averting layoffs and creating career advancement opportunities for workers. The program can fund 100% of employee training costs up to $3,500 per employee and a maximum grant of $15,000.  The Kalamazoo-St. Joseph Michigan Works! is accepting applications beginning July 25, 2008 through the deadline,  Monday, August 25th, 2008, by 4 p.m.

Companies interested in the program should go to the Michigan Works! website to access the application: http://www.upjohninstitute.org/miworks/index.html For questions, please contact Michigan Works! Business Services Team member, Suprotik Stotz-Ghosh at 269-349-1533.

The Employee Enhancement Program is another example of how Michigan Works! helps companies build a well-trained workforce and maintain a competitive edge in our challenging economy. Michigan Works! provides assistance to  employers and job seekers to ensure that our area is supplied with skilled workers and individuals are provided an opportunity to advance their knowledge and skills to achieve economic self-sufficiency.  The Kalamazoo-St. Joseph Michigan Works! is administered by the W.E. Upjohn Institute and receives funding from federal and state governments through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
