The focus of the Council has been to provide indirect child abuse and neglect
services to Kalamazoo County residents. Activities include public awareness,
education and advocacy for positive parenting, speaker's bureau, community
education for lay and professional audiences, assessing services needs, and
developing direct services which are then operated through existing agencies.
The Council is also involved in issues advocacy and information and referral
services but cannot become involved in individual cases.

The Michigan Commission for the Blind serves approximately 4,000 blind persons each
year through it’s programs: Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Independent Living Services,

providing educational, training, and rehabilitation opportunities to persons who are
