Since its founding in 1945, the Upjohn Institute follows the economic conditions and developments in the West Michigan Economy to provide information and forecasts to West Michigan businesses, governments and other community organizations.
This Institute quarterly publication analyzes current economic conditions facing the major metropolitan areas of West Michigan. In addition, the current national, state, and regional economies are summarized, offering another perspective to the challenges facing area communities during the current economic situation.
Each release includes West Michigan Viewpoint, which focuses on a different issue in the current West Michigan economy.

The Institute regularly updates this database with newly released statistical information about West Michigan. Also provided are links to a number of state and federal sources that offer data on the region.
West Michigan experts frequently speak around the West Michigan area to local government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
The Institute conducts research studies on a variety of topics relevant to regional economies, including economic impact estimates, industry reports, and assessments of regional economic conditions and performance. Most regional research reports address specific topics that are pertinent to the industry, government, and nonprofit organizations that are tackling regional economic issues. The geographic areas examined by these reports ranges from individual cities or counties in West Michigan to large multi-county economic regions throughout the U.S.
